Kids Still Get Whacked @ Armageddon. Current Light. (With Pix!)
by Open mind inif you've clicked around on other sites, you can find the troubling picture i grew up with from the old orange paradise lost book.
a big old armageddon earthquake that is swallowing up people, churches, a bicycle, a dog!
) and of course, a little girl in a dress that is indelibly planted in my memory chips.

That picture from Paradise Lost always got me... the little girl, holding her dolly, and her puppy falling in with her. Just MESSED UP is what that is.
Did anybody read the rest of the text on that page, or did you just look at the pictures... talk of people's flesh rotting off their bones while they're still alive, because Jehovah will send this flesh-eating plague to the heathen scum. Was this scripture later decided to be not literal? I don't recall reading such a graphic description or interpretation in later literature.

2112: However if they said I d DA myself when I clearly did not then they are guilty of lying and blocking my way towards spritual salvation. Would that not by extention make them blood guilty?
1) They are only guilty of "blocking your way towards spiritual salvation" if, in your mind, you think that they have the truth and that your spiritual salvation is dependent on believing what they say about you or what you've done. I don't get the impression you think that, since 14 years have passed. In fact, I doubt they even remember you or give it nearly as much thought as you are doing here.
2) They'd only be blood guilty if you die due to their misrepresentations. Since their belief system is a fabrication, and God (if there is one) isn't going to kill you because "you didn't DA yourself, but they think you did", I think you're safe, and they're NUTS but not blood guilty.
Go live your life and have fun!

Nothing says "Vindication of Universal Sovereignty" like dead children being eaten by divinely commissioned birds of prey.
Yup. My folks use to delight in torturing us with that Scripture... "you better straighten up your act, or the birds are gonna EAT YOUR EYES!!"

How many JW's are having doubts?
by Mickey mouse ini wonder what percentage of current jw's know it's not the truth but have too much invested to get out?
more importantly, how many of the gb know but have no where else to go?.
anyone care to hazard a guess?.

I don't know the answer to your question--any number would be a guess. However, I agree with the folks here that say that many stay because they have too much invested.
That said, I think that if the Society EVER were to loosen or eliminate their "shunning" policy for disfellowshipped or disassociated people, there would be a collective (pun intended) sigh of relief and mass exodus, or, at the very least, a mass fade.

Everything she had been taught tells her you will go "crazy apostate" and "leave her for the world". If you want her to come out of the organization she needs to see they lied. She needs to see you become an even BETTER husband than you were before. More loving, more attentive, no "pressure" (for meetings, family study, field service, reading all her magazines, etc.). Being very low key, and a "shelter from the heat" of the KH will win her to your side. It will take a while, but your patience will be rewarded. When she makes comments (and she will, eventually) critical of what she perceives as problems in the organization, just smile, nod, and squeeze her hand. DON'T take that as signal to launch into a tirade against the WTBTS. She's a smart woman, she loves you, and when she realizes she's not going to lose you and that things will be better with you OUTSIDE the organization, she'll be happy. With that in mind, find things that SHE likes to do, but hasn't had time to do (due to meetings, field service, etc) and get involved in them WITH her. She feels a big part of what you two do together, what makes her whole, has been ripped from her life. Fill it with something else. If she likes you to pray with her, and she's still willing to let you do that and you're willing to as well, then do so, but keep it generic and meaningful about YOU AND HER, not about the JW organization. Or, find something else you can do together "spiritually" if you're so inclined and able... that could simply mean reading the Bible with her, WITHOUT your commentary. Just my thoughts. My wife isn't "out" yet. But we have very little tension about the religion, and I honestly feel the JW grip on her mind and life is being released...

Lots of trucks on the road here. DFW airport is a major hub of incoming international freight. Look at UPS or some of the many private carriers on the West and North side of the airport.
The one thing that is out of whack here is electricity rates. Expensive (14 cents kW/hour and up). With Air Conditioning, it can add up!

Blackswan,
YES, especially if you're in IT or Healthcare. FYI, I'm talking about the DFW metroplex (north central Texas). The house prices I listed are NOT for north Dallas; they are for north Fort Worth and other outlying suburban muncipalities.

Come to Texas, USA. You'll never be able to afford to move away. Starter homes start at well under $100K. New construction at the $110K level, for a nice brick EnergyStar-rated 2-story. We paid $134K for a 2550 sq foot two story brick home in a nice subdivision. Would have cost us upwards of $275K for the same thing in Washington State, where we came from.
That also means that the $250K houses here would be $450K+ in other parts of the country (especially the NE or California).
